SOLSD will be offering a Text Messaging Service soon!

Posted on: July 13, 2026

Parents / Guardians...

Soon... you will be able to take advantage of our new (SMS) Text Messaging Service.

Our school district will be utilizing the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages straight to your mobile device with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts, and more...

You can participate in this free service:

Simply Text any one of the following words to the number 67587:   subscribe, optin, yes

You’ll know you were successful if you receive the following reply message:

You are registered to receive approx 3 msgs/mo. Txt STOP to quit, HELP for help.

You’ll want to repeat the opt-in process for any wireless numbers that you wish to include.

In addition to performing the opt-in process above you’ll want to insure that the district has your wireless number(s) in our student information database.  If you haven’t opted in your wireless number, you may receive the following one-time opt-in invitation on July 21, 2026 to any numbers the district has on file for you.  This is to comply with wireless carrier requirements and to protect you against unsolicited text messages.

Again...  if you do not wish to receive any further messages you can simply disregard the message or simply reply with STOP to the opt-in message that you receive, or you can visit www.schoolmessenger.com/tm

SchoolMessenger is compliant with the Student Privacy Pledge so you can be assured that your information is safe and will never be given or sold to anyone.

Information on SMS Text messaging and short code:  SMS stands for Short Message Service and is commonly referred to as a "text message".  Most cell phones support this type of text messaging.  Our notification provider, SchoolMessenger, uses a true SMS protocol developed by the telecommunications industry specifically for mass text messaging, referred to as "short code" texting.  This method is fast, secure and highly reliable because it is strictly regulation by the wireless carriers and only allows access to approved providers.

If you ever sent a text vote for a TV show to a number like 46999, then you have used short code texting.

Please note,

***  Please note:  Terms and Conditions:  Message frequency will vary.  Standard message and data rates DO APPLY.  Although the district does not charge you for this service, it does not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving text messages. Check with your wireless carrier for possible charges.  Reply HELP for help.  Text STOP to cancel.  Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.  See schoolmessenger.com/tm for more information.
