The Ohio Valley Education Service Center (ESC) hosted the 2021 Hybrid Learning Summit on Wednesday, February 17. Fifty-five educators attended, learning from 15 local presenters on a variety of topics. Our own Mr. Trevor Biggs, an Intervention Specialist at Swiss Hills Career Center, presented, “Teaching in a Time of Transition.” Along with Dr. Matt Unger, Director of Swiss Hills Career Center, Mr. Biggs discussed the successes and challenges of using the co-teaching paradigms in and out of the Hybrid Learning Model. The session was attended by 17 fellow educators and covered what works, what doesn't, and what's changed from a Special Education teacher's perspective in a Career Technical setting.

The presentation explored the application of various forms of the co-teaching models from one teacher and one observer to team teaching. For the presentation, Mr. Biggs drew from his experiences with three different classes, three different co-teachers, and three different grade levels. Mr. Biggs and Director Unger addressed the importance of developing healthy communication and collaboration among peers.

“It was an honor to have represented Swiss Hills Career Center in this unique collaborative event, and I am looking forward to many more opportunities in the future,” Mr. Biggs said.

SHCC would like to thank the Ohio Valley Education Service Center for hosting the event and giving us this fantastic opportunity to present.
