#ridewiththetribe campaign

The MC Journalism & Social Media and Speech classes are currently putting together an end of the year campaign aiming to build student morale. This year has been full of challenges as students, families, and the stuff have had to overcome learning and teaching under these unfamiliar conditions. The classes came together to complete a professional proposal for their campaign, which was presented to the school administration, Board of Education members, and AmeriCorps representatives through a Zoom meeting.

The campaign is entitled #ridewiththetribe. The classes will be hosting some events at Monroe Central High School, along with events for the elementary students toward the end of the school year. Check out some of the high school events the campaign is hosting below:

  • Movie Day. Students will kick off the afternoon with a Seminole celebration, where all students will be welcomed into the gym with the traditional celebratory tunnel, given MCHS swag, and provided a newsletter detailing exciting upcoming events. After this celebration, students will get to watch a movie, complete with popcorn. Held on March 31.

  • #ridewiththetribe Bingo. Students will have the opportunity to have a little fun with some awesome prizes -- a fun stress relief for students as they prepare for the End of Course testing. Held on April 12.

  • Freshman Orientation. Campaign students will welcome incoming freshmen with swag and student led conferences about scheduling, MC athletics and clubs, what it means to be a Seminole, and more.

The campaign will be hosting two Health Professions Affinity Community (HPAC) events for the local elementary students. HPAC is an AmeriCorps group which has changed their name to CRUSH, standing for Corps for Rural and Urban Success in Health. MC has been a part of this group for the last five years. The two events for elementary students will be held in May:

  • Mom/Son Dodgeball Tourney. Local elementary boys (K-6) and their moms will play dodgeball against each other. Admission to this event is donations of personal hygiene products.

  • Father/Daughter Dance. This event is for K-8 girls and their fathers; it is a free evening for dads and daughters to dress up and dance the night away.

In addition to putting together and implementing this #ridewiththetribe campaign, the students will also participate in the annual CRUSH Scholars Day competition, which will be held virtually in late April.

“I am extremely proud of these students who have taken on such a big real-life project,” says English Language Arts teacher Mrs. Meade. “They will be planning, organizing, promoting, and implementing real-life events. I know they will do a wonderful job, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.”
